Takenouchi ryu (竹内流)
Founded in 1532, by Takenouchi Hisamori, Takenouchi ryu (竹内流)(or Takeuchi ryu) is one of the oldest koryū bujutsu. Although more known as the oldest jujutsu tradition, Takenouchi ryu is a comprehensive martial art including many disciplines. It is said that Takenouchi Hisamori retired near the Sannomiya shrine and practiced for six days and six nights with a bokken (wooden sword). On the sixth night he fell asleep and was woken by a mountain priest who Hisamori thought must be an incarnation of the god Atago. Hisamori attacked the priest, but was defeated. The priest then took Hisamori's bokken and broke it into two daggers one shaku and two sun long and taught him how to use them in grappling and close combat. These techniques became called koshi no mawari (around the hips) and hojojutsu. More techniques and disciplines were added to the school over the second and third generations within the Takenouchi family forming what is preserved nowadays as Takenouchi ryu.
Takenouchi ryu is transmitted today by three main lineages. This includes two family lines (Soke and Sodenke) and the Bitchuden.

Bitchuden Takenouchi ryu (竹内流 備中伝)
Bitchuden Takenouchi Ryū was initially transmitted by Takeuchi Seidaiyū Masatsugu, a student of the third Soke of Takenouchi ryu, who moved to Bitchu Province (now western Okayama Prefecture) and was given permission to transmit Takenouchi ryu. From here on, Bitchuden Takenouchi ryu was transmitted separately through each generation. Bitchuden Takenouchi ryu is still transmitted today both internationally and through several dojos in Japan, the most notable being the Chofukan dojo in Kyoto headed by Ono Yotaro (current Kancho of Bitchuden) and the Shinpukan dojo in Tokyo headed by the incumbent Kancho, Takagi Hitotsugu.

Zuifukai 瑞風会
January, 2018, Ono Yotaro Kancho granted the formation of an Australian training group and named it the Zuifukai. This was led initially by Kawakami Kazuki while he resided in Australia before moving back to Japan. Training at the Zuifukai is currently handled by the original founding members who also travel to Japan each year for further training.
